Mission Viejo

Mission Viejo is one of the largest master planned communities in the United States, housing more than 100,000 people. It is located between the Lake Forest/Trabuco Canyon area and San Juan Capistrano and Rancho Santa Margarita and Laguna Niguel in South Orange County. The center of the city is defined by its man-made lake, Lake Mission Viejo.

In 2007, Mission Viejo was named the safest city in the United States by the Morgan Quitno crime survey. Largely residential and family-oriented, Mission Viejo is also home to Mission Hospital, and Children’s Hospital of Orange County and many well-known successful businesses.

Mission Viejo residents are actively involved in team sports, and boast the largest AYSO region in the country. Soccer and baseball games can be seen at the Mission Viejo Youth Athletic Park on a regular basis. Swimming and bicycling are also strong favorites of the community, and Mission Viejo hosted several events in the 1984 Summer Olympics. The Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center, The Mission Viejo Country Club, Casa del Sol Golf Course, and the Arroyo Trabuco Golf Club are other highlights in this active community.

Two school districts, Capistrano Unified and Saddleback Valley Unified serve Mission Viejo, providing 15 elementary schools, 3 intermediate/middle schools, and 5 high schools. Saddleback College is also located in Mission Viejo.
