If you love cultivating a healthy Coto de Caza lifestyle, there is a new cooking class series being held every other Monday night at 7:30pm that will educate you in a delicious environment about cooking for health and wellness. As part of your education, you’ll taste nutritious and delicious dishes created by Erin MacDonald, R.D., Nutrition, Fitness, and Wellness Coach. While you’re enjoying the food, you will learn about a variety of health and wellness topics, all within the Lotus 7 Yoga & Pilates facility, near your Coto de Caza home. It’s still a New Year and a great time to do something good for your body, mind, heart and spirit, like walking, which is the perfect exercise for all levels of fitness. It’s safe, simple, it doesn’t require training, and it’s fun, especially outdoors in beautiful landscapes and weather. This gentle, low-impact exercise is one of the safest ways to way to ease into a higher level of fitness and health. If you live in Coto d Caza and enjoy company while you enjoy healthful walks that relax and energize you, feel free to join your community Walking Group, sponsored by the Bell Tower Regional Community Center. Do you have a child who loves storytime, snuggling and books? Are you looking for a way to bond with your children in an educational setting near your Coto de Caza home? That means February 7th is the next chance to enjoy a delightfully cozy and fun evening with your little ones as a story is read aloud by special guest storytellers. It’s a family activity that parents and children can really get into. All children are invited to come dressed in their pajamas with their favorite stuffed animal friend. The books read will be engaging and thoughtfully written and the storytellers are sure to catch and inspire the imagination of children. Teens for Jeans Donations Near Your Coto de Caza Home

If you live in Coto de Caza or Rancho Santa Fe and need to clean out your closet, save those gently used jeans for a great cause. The Tesoro HS Girls Water Polo Team has come together with the Do Something Foundation and Aeropostale to influence the lives of homeless teens. In their quest to make a difference and fight teen homelessness, the Tesoro HS Girls Water Polo Team will collect your gently used jeans to donate to homeless teens near your Coto de Caza home. Now that the holidays are past, you’ll probably need to make room for some new items in your closet anyway, so take advantage of the chance to begin spring cleaning and keep a homeless teen covered this winter.

This is a cause worth talking about so be sure to mention the jean drive to your friends, neighbors, co-workers and relatives. Everyone is invited to join in and donate. The goal of 500 pairs of jeans for teens can be reached and you can help meet that goal, by bringing your gently used jeans of any brand or style to the Tesoro High School Pool Deck, Monday through Friday, through February 10th, between 12pm and 3pm, or email dawn@thecutiscrew.com to make arrangements for pick up. Outdoor lovers who live in Coto de Caza loving their beautiful surroundings during a fairly mild winter while itching for more mileage of outdoor recreation as if it were summertime. No need to look far! One of the many outdoor recreation locations near your Coto de Caza home, is a great spot for hiking and exploring nature. Riley Wilderness Park, has an abundant amount of native plants and animal life including old groves of sycamores and Coast Live Oaks that border the park’s two seasonally flowing creeks. The landscape also features rolling hills and canyons of Coastal Sage Scrub and grasslands.

This is such a peaceful spot; you may want to take the whole family for a mild-weathered winter afternoon hike. Depending on the day, consider bundling up a bit as the cool breeze may whistle through the dry grasses and your hair while you hike around the trail ridges, viewing the surrounding mountains. One benefit of visiting in January is that the sun won’t scorch all your fun, as it probably gets a bit too warm in the summer.

Kids will love the Park for its easy hiking trails and there are also kid-friendly exhibits at the small but educational visitor center, including bridges to climb over, an artificial tree stump to climb in, a fountain visited by ravens, bunnies, and more.
